Vitamins For Acne Treatment

Are there any vitamins out there that can help in the treatment of my persistent acne? Any vitamins I could take that can aid in the treatment of acne.

rp replied: "check out this web site
also this is not a vitamin, but I found that drinking apple cider vinegar (from the health food store) about a shot worth mixed in tomatoe juice each day helps my acne - it cleans your body of all impurities. Good Luck"

gabykawa replied: "What about brewer's yeast pills?"

greenlover replied: "You can try Prevaderm..a natrual supplement that helps removing your acne:"

curious George replied: "If you can, go to a doctor and see about getting birth control pills. However, if you smoke, you will risk the chance of a stroke. Do not smoke if you are taking birth control pills."

Lois R replied: "I use aloe vera on my skin for my spots that i get as its very good for the skin and it helps my spots all i did was get an aloe vera plant which was about 4.98 from a garden centre and i cut a little bit off it and wash my face then spread it over my face before bed time it helps spots you should try it !!"

tomorjerry replied: "Eat a lot of green vegetables like spinach, cabbage, beans, peas, lettuce, etc. A salad and fruit should be taken daily. Check out for more useful info."

Where can i buy Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment? I herad it's really good and has great results. And i want to buy it

Nancy replied: "I am not sure of Neutrogena, but there are variety of acne medications at"

Laura replied: "I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes."

Is Brewer's Yeast a good vitamin treatment for acne? My grandmother insists that this is the ultimate cure. I have been taking some, but don't see a result. Is this a futile attempt to get rid of adult acne? It's not very severe.
What is this vitamin generally good for? My tongue peels on a regular basis - I still don't know why - but it's helped that a lot.

XOUT replied: "Waste of time.

There actually is a real vitamin that helps acne. Vitamin A and its chemical relatives, the retinoids, when applied topically are an excellent treatment for acne.

You can also get generic benzoyl peroxide creams at the local drug store for not much money."

what acne treatment can pregnant women use? I am about 11 weeks pregnant and having some blemish issues. My skin is freakin out! I have read that I cannot use the regular topical acne treatments due to it imitating an amazing amount of vitamin A that can be absorbed in the bloodstream and can affect baby. I was curious if anyone knows of any kind of natural or OTC remedies that are pregnancy safe?

Julian replied: "Check with your gynae on which acne treatment is safe as the use of a topical acne cream during pregnancy should be done with caution and only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Although topical lotions and any skin cream used for treatment of acne are less absorbed by the body than those taken orally, the potential risk that these medications have on the unborn fetus must be weighed carefully before application.
What you can do now is as follows:
1. Drink water. This will hydrate your body and skin and fight acne during pregnancy.
2. Stop coffee and soda as caffeine is known to promote acne during pregnancy.
3. Relax as stress is a contributer of acne during pregnancy
4. Avoid fast foods, fried foods and greasy food."

TREATMENT OF ACNE (Self-Care at Home)

1• Wash once or twice daily with soap and water to remove excess oil from the skin. An acne cleanser purchased over-the-counter in any drug store can also be helpful. Avoid scrubbing too abrasively because this can actually irritate the skin and cause acne to worsen.

2• Over-the-counter acne medications can be used either at bedtime or during the day. Always follow the directions on any acne product.

3• Many cover-up products are available without a prescription to improve the appearance of blemishes while they have a chance to heal. Most work well and should not worsen acne.

4• Some cosmetics and other skin care products, however, can cause acne to worsen. Look for make-up, cosmetics, and skin care products labeled with the word noncomedogenic. This means that it does not cause or worsen acne.

TREATMENT OF ACNE (Medical Treatment)

Many treatment options are available to treat all forms of acne. Medications are the main treatment for acne and usually work well. Several preparations are available over-the-counter, while others require a prescription from a doctor.

1• Over-the-counter medications: Nonprescription or over-the-counter medications for acne are plentiful and can be effective for milder forms of acne. They come in the form of soaps, washes, and cleansers.

...1.a. Many contain benzoyl peroxide, which does two things. First, benzoyl peroxide kills the acne-causing bacteria, which are thought to play a role in acne. Second, benzoyl peroxide can cause drying and flaking off of skin, which can help prevent the pores from becoming plugged. Plugged pores can develop into acne blemishes.

...1.b. Scrubbing excessively with any over-the-counter preparation can actually cause acne to worsen by additionally irritating the hair follicles.

2• Prescription medications: Doctors can prescribe medications when acne becomes moderate to severe or is not controlled by over-the-counter medications. Prescription drugs can be used effectively alone or in combination with other prescription and nonprescription medications.

...2.a. Antibiotics: Antibiotics can be effective in treating most inflammatory acne (papules and pustules). They work by killing the bacteria and also by decreasing the redness and swelling seen in the inflammatory forms of acne.

......2.a.i. Antibiotics may be applied to the skin in the form of gels and lotions, or by way of pills. We now know that using a combination of 2 medications together may be very effective in treating acne. Using a topical antibiotic with topical benzoyl peroxide, for example, may prevent bacterial resistance to the antibiotic. Giving an antibiotic by mouth is often needed for acne that is more extensive, red, and tender.

......2.a.ii. Antibiotics taken by mouth can be associated with more side effects than if applied to the skin and may interact with other medicines such as birth control pills. Sensitivity to the sun can result in a "bad sunburn" in some people who take the antibiotic tetracycline by mouth.

...2.b. Retinoids: Medicines made from vitamin A (retinoids) are useful in treating several types of acne lesions. Topical retinoids are effective in treating the noninflammatory types of acne (blackheads and whiteheads).

......2.b.i. Topical retinoids (applied directly to the skin) help to open clogged pores by creating a mild peeling effect. Drying of the skin can be a frequent side effect. Oral retinoids are reserved for treating the more extensive nodular type of acne or severe inflammatory acne, which has not responded to other treatments. Oral retinoids not only have a peeling effect but also decrease the production of oil.

......2.b.ii. They can also be associated with a number of serious side effects including birth defects in babies of women who become pregnant while taking the medicine. They can also cause elevated blood fats (triglycerides) and damage to the liver. Your doctor may recommend certain blood tests to check for these problems (and to make sure you are not pregnant) if you are given oral retinoids. Depression and suicidal thoughts have been reported while taking oral retinoids.

......2.b.iii. A combination preparation, known as Epiduo gel, containing both the retinoid adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, was approved by the U.S. FDA in December 2008. The once-daily prescription treatment was approved for use in patients 12 years of age and older.

...2.c. Other medications: A doctor may recommend other types of drugs or therapy to improve acne. For women, medications such as birth control pills or certain "water pills" may be helpful. These drugs counteract the acne-causing effect of male hormones. Newer treatments for acne include the use of light or zinc. Your doctor can advise you whether these types of acne therapy might be good for you.

Take Care. Regards."

Amy replied: "Honestly, most chemicals are off limits right now which is usually found is most of the products at regular stores. Im using Aveeno Calming cleaner and lotion. Its taken away the reddness and it's all natural which is better regardless of being pregnant or not. Cetaphil has been good too, no harsh ingredients. I actually started rubbing slices of tomatoes on my face- its dried up extra oil and reddness. I rinse it off after the juice sits for 10-20 minutes."

Alanna replied: "I also have acne. I posted my problems on wish123 and got an excellent advise from an expert. I highly recommend the website!"

Best acne scar treatment for a person with sesitive skin and a few blackheads left? I almost never get white heads, just blackheads and pimplesunder the skin, thanks to a new medication. I am looking for a way to get rid of acne scars. I have heard of bio oil, vitamin e capsules, tree tea oil, yada yada. I have heard of Microdermabraision kits from drugstores, and alos of Mederma and stuff like that. Which works the best and the quickest?

**DO NOT SPAM MY QUESTION!**

Janessa G replied: "depends on your skin. for some people skin treatments work real fast and for others it takes a while. i use murad i love that stuff! i started seeing results in 2 weeks and it didnt irritate my skin. clearasil works in 3 days BUT it does irritate the skin.
what scar treatment did you use? i am trying to find a good treatment for my 2 scars I have and they just wont go away! :("

danger(; replied: "for blackheads and pimples, just wash your face every morning and night. also for black heads, get a curret at your local drug store. currets are those metal things with holes on the end that you use to pop those suckers. they really work. try to avoid putting lotion on your face before you go to sleep as well. and avoid touching your face as much as possible."

what stores to get good acne treatments at? do you know of any local stores that you can get acne treatments at, like vitamin pro shop, ulta? and stores like that (not walmart, or walgreens) i am looking for clearpores, murad, and stuff like that;
thanks

does anyone know a good acne treatment? ive had it for two years. the dermatalogist said i have 'mild acne' and gave me retin-a but it didnt work. ive tried proactive, the zeno thing, acnexus, and herbal pills. it just doesnt make sense to me. i eat right, drink a lot of water, take a shower everyday, take vitamins, follow my acne routine religiously and am in great shape. im in college so i dont get that much sleep thats the only thing. again, it is only mild acne, but it makes no sense to me why if i unclog my pores everyday with acne medicine, i still get clogged pores and acne. can someone give me a treatment that WILL work? im sick of acne. every acne product i try says it works for 90 percent of patients but i dont get why im never in that 90 percent. its extremely aggravating, and my social life and self esteem is suffering because of it

Nat.ur.day replied: "Natures Cure. It's Over the counter at any pharmacy, about $12-$15 and it works with your hormones naturally. It's pills and a cream (the cream not as necessary as the pills). Try it -it works!"

If You Love Yo Mama Vote 4 Obama replied: "I wash my face with noxzema every night before bed and my skin is always soft no pimples and no blemishes..."

JJ replied: "i'm 25 and still have it, it's just gotten better as i've gotten older, mine was and is still mild, it's no where close to severe, i just use antibacterial soap and never go to bed with makeup on my face, i wish there was a magic cure but i sure haven't found it"

Joseph K replied: "You could always try neosporin

I would definally look at more what your eating because certain food really can aggravate your facial area, particularly dairy and sweets.

Lack of sleep? maybe thats another cause because stress also tends to aggravate acne"

Kathryn replied: "I can really relate to what you wrote. I had mild acne for years and finally cleared it up using the Regimen from Acne.org. The Regimen involves gentle cleaning, LOTS of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, and moisturizer. The website explains everything, and the Regimen uses over-the-counter products of your choosing (the website includes reviews of hundreds of products). The site also has a message board."

Joanna replied: "You could use Neutragena or Clearasil.
Neutragena worked for me, and Clearasil worked for a friend of mine.
Proactiv works for only some skin types.
You could also unclog your pores with a steamed rag and close them with a cold one after washing your face.
Good luck!"

mls replied: "Unfortunatly, all the right things don't work for us that suffer with Acne. Keep it up though. It can't hurt.

I notice a face masque that you buy helps a lot. You put on the masque and let it dry and then rinse or wipe off. I have known that to do wonders!!! I have had the this problem forever too sense 7th grade
Now birth control like Yaz and Ortho Tri Cylen help too. I was clear. But that is another option. I was also on an antibiotic too for 6 mo.
Clearsil facial cleansers work good too. I have used Nuetragena also. Everyone does well with certain products. i hear pro active solution works really well too. i use dove bar soap or oil of olay soap daily to wash with. Keep a moisturizer on too every day. Twice a day if you can. Morning and night. Oil of Olay i use. Good Luck!"

Kimistry replied: "You may be having normal hormone related acne. I'm in my 30's and still get some acne. My dermatologist recommended a med called spironolactone which keeps the testosterone in your body from causing acne. It also works great in conjuntion with the birth control pill.I'm not sure if you're male or female but as an acne med spironolactone can only be used with women.

I also use a daily face cleaner by LaRoche-Posay called Toleriane. It never dries out my skin and keeps my pores unclogged."

C C replied: "quit the ance treatment. quit the ance traetment that was perscribed. that stuff can work at 1st, but after a while it can stop working, that what happen to me, the acne treatment gave to me by the doctor was Causeing my acne after a while, so Quit it. ! use a over the counter acne treatment, i use the walgreens brand. i kno it sounds kind of weird, but this is all true. and MAKE SURE that you shower 3 times a day, dont pick at the skin, use a clean new washcloth each time, and scrub it (not to bleed or be painful tho) to a lather, then rinse well. also make sure that your bed and couch is covered in plastic or else get it steam cleaned everyday, or at least once a week, then make sure you use a clean towel each time as well, clean sheets and blankets pillow cases, and what i do is use plastic, then i take the sheet from the bed for that day and put it on the couch. after the acne is cleared, you can probally be ok washing the bedding once every 2-3 days, and see if you get it back or not. =D this is a stright scedule you must follow, but the acne should start clearing up with in a week. but give it at least a month to try this. if it doesnt work, then im sorry, but this works for me. also if it gets dry, use antibactial onitment, this will heal acne as well as long as its put on clean skin. she needs to eat at least 2500+ cals a day, you need to do at least 1 hour of cardio and 1 hour of strength training a day. eat healthy wide varieties- fruits(3-10 serv.) and veggies(3-10serv) and only drink water 36-100 cups, meat/protein(3-10serv) dairy/calcium(3-10serv) grains/rice/carbs(3-10), multi vitamin and other needed supplements. exersize hard, sweaty, out of breath, painful, burning, get tired, if u sleep 12 hours, then exersize 3- 4 hours, if u sleep 8 hours, then exersize for 7-8 hours, shower 2-14 times, clean mouth 3-14 times, all this will help increase her immune system, causeing the body to function better, also it will cleanse the skin and make it healthier, this is very important in treatment as well as a working acne soap. =D also make sure that she doesnt touch or pick at the skin at all ! and she needs to scrub the body with a lather and wash cloth. and make sure to use a clean towel, and clean washcloth each time as well as clean clothes each time. also she needs to not touch her face/areas during the day, cuz what ever she touched with her hands has bactereias and dirt that can cause it to.. also if she sits on the couch, the couch needs to be steam cleaned, then covered after dry, and the cover needs to be washed, as well as the sheets and blankets and pillow cases she uses needs to be washed every day. i just use the same sheet i used from the bed onto the couch, also THE couch and bed need to be covered in plastic if your not going to steam clean them, and if u steam clean, it needs to be done once a week, at least once every month, but the best and cheapest way is plastic, thats what we did. all this shuold really help, dont forget no picking, and if the area has been picked, or is a scab, or is dry, you can put antibacterial ointment on there, it will clear acne as well, so rememebr that. so try that too. but only when put on clean skin. clean that skin 3 times a day."

wiley replied: "I have tried it all too! I was told I have mild acne and was proscribed something (can't even remember the name of it). It didn't work so I tried other things like Proactive and that type stuff. About 2 months ago I started using the new Neutrogena Skin ID. You go online and answer a few questions and they match a little regimen to suit you and your acne. My skin has never been so clear!! I love it. I kind of had to modify my regimen because it being winter my skin was drying out to fast but now I have it right where I want it; CLEAR!! So this is my best recommendation to you!"

Fonda LaShay replied: "Acne is a bacteria that needs to be killed. Witch Hazel is also works great.. it is a little smelly, but you can use a cotton ball or wash cloth. It will tke away the oiliness. `Tea Tree Oil will kill out the bacteria or weaken it enough not to bother you. Apply it to the effected areas with a q-tip or cotton ball after you have washed.

You should get a good multivitamin(highly suggest) with vitamin a,c,e,d and zinc.. this should help tons! Eating carrots also helps.. there is beta-carotene (Vitamin A) in them which helps prevent acne and repair the skin. Take zinc, zinc is a antibacterial agent. Make sure to dink plenty of water and get good rest at night.

Azelaic Acid is a great natural acid that reduces the growth of bacteria, restores the skins cells and reduces inflammation. Try using a topical with Azelaic Acid in it.. it is safe.

Also, change/wash your pillow case and sheets every other day.

There are ways to put moisture back into your skin and heal it, such as: drinking lots of water, making sure you are eating enough fat/omega-3 oils. Lotions with mineral oil can dry out the skin, use one with out it! Emu Oil ( ) contains vitamin A and E, Sapogens ( makes skin softer), and Oleic acid (a skin cell regenerator, anti-wrinkel agent) - walgreens sells emu oil.. i would think walmart would as well."

Aloe Vera Capsules -or- Vitamin A Tablets for treatment of acne? I was told they both good for acne but I don't know which to buy?

pancakes & hyrup replied: "I would opt for Vitamin A. Retin-A Micro is a prescription med, or used to be prescription anyway, that dermatologists prescribe for acne. It is extremely high concentrations a vitamin A. I remember reading somewhere though that Excessive amounts of vitamin A in your system could be toxic and lethal, so research how much is safe, and don't over do it.

Retin-A Micro makes your complexion worse for a few days, maybe a week or 2, while it "pushes out" the toxins, hormones and other causes for your acne, and then it clears up substantially. That is what a dermatologist will tell you too."

hook'jack replied: "I hate Retin-A! Granted, it does start working about the 3-4 week, but it has always been too harsh for my skin and makes me look like I have sun or wind burn. I travel a lot for work, and there is nothing worse than realizing you are peeling severely and you don't have time to go smooth on some lotion.

Taking vitamin A orally (you can take it by itself or it will be in an anti-acne vitamin or skin, hair, nails vitamin), and also Loma Lux (a homeopathic remedy) will help."

Henry F replied: "Hi korngalkez666,

This is some information on how aloe vera can help your acne condition:

For ages, aloe vera is regarded as a soothing solution for sun burns and rashes. It is also widely known to ease pain and inflammation. In addition, the aloe vera juice contains anti-oxidants that when drunk can detoxify the body and bring back the skin's natural radiance. If that happens, the face is cleared out of acne and the recurring break out is prevented.

Aloe vera juice is not easily produced. One reason is Aloe Vera does not naturally grow in some parts of the globe especially because they emerge on deserts. Another fact is for you to consume the aloe vera juice right after you have squeezed it to avoid spoilage, thus leading to a terrible taste. Luckily with the help of medicinal breakthroughs, over the counter alternatives of pure aloe vera are available.

Hope this helps,

Henry"

I'm 18years old and have done every treatment for my acne and even the dermatologist, nothing seems to work!!? I've done almost every over the counter treatment, proactiv, differen, and other prescribed treatments. I take Vitamin A pill to help keep my skin oil free but it is still a bit oily. I stopped drinking soda and watch how much grease i eat. I dont know what else to do!!! Is there something else!?

Alicia replied: "i have the same problem! only i'm fifteen and i've probably had it since 7th grade. i'm in tenth now, but i so know how hard it is to find something that works. so started just recently using baking soda to exfoliate my face (about a week ago) and i'm starting to see an improvement :) you should try it. it sounds stupid but hey i was willing to try anything that would improve my skin the slightest bit! i have moderate acne and scarring and it's improving :D
-hope i helped, tell me how it works for you email me at"

§N§ replied: "Yes, do baking soda because it is an exfoliant and can help with scars. Also, if you can try using tea tree oil on your acne before bed.
You could also try to washing your face for a minute because that's usually the amount of time for it to break down pollutants, dirt, oil, etc and this really helped a lot."

Guru replied: "There is this new popular cream that people have been talking about.

It was even televised on TV.

It prevents future and existing acne, diminishes scars, and lightens skin and blemishes. Fast results too! (It's been claimed that major results can be seen within a week and no later than two weeks)

Before and After photos are available at the given ebay site.

This person is providing 1-3 week trial samples (Only for ONE DOLLAR.. definitely a deal) on ebay at:

Search up "Cee En's Acne Solution" or "best acne solution ever" on ebay.

First 100 customers can get the item for $1 for one week trial and up to 3 weeks. Or you can purchase 1 month supply for $40 or 6 month supply for $160

It's expensive, but the product DOES work.

My sister and cousin who both have major acne have tried the product and they both give it thumbs up. I have also heard many great feedbacks about this cream.

I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

check the seller's feedbacks on the cream

I hope this helps. =)"

Akeelah D replied: "calchelp!, Try eating really bland food. That got rid of my acne in 6 days."
